Project

Live Machinery Demonstration Days

Project Description

WANTFA is required to organise and conduct three (3) grower Field Days incorporating the demonstration of implements and strategies for paddock preparation following amelioration. The purpose of the Field Days is to educate and assist growers to adopt new farming systems techniques that maintain the benefits of soil amelioration, and reduce the risks of poor crop  establishment, soil erosion and reversal of soil constraints.

In order to achieve the above purpose:

(a) each of the three (3) grower Field Days will require WANTFA to:

  1. deliver a series of in-field workshops and machinery demonstrations with discussion andadvice on:
    1. tools and techniques used to level, prepare and pack ameliorated paddocks in preparation for seeding;
    2. compaction management (including role of tyre pressures), CTF management and wheeltrack renovation; and
    3. layout planning on ameliorated soils and minimising erosion risk; and
      1. use its best endeavours to deliver the following outcomes (to the extent that they are relevant to the particular Field Day):
        1. Outcome 1: attendee growers leave the Field Day with understanding of how to implement the tools/ techniques demonstrated to level, prepare and pack ameliorated paddocks; and
        2. Outcome 2: attendee growers leave the Field Day with an understanding of compaction management using the techniques demonstrated; and
        3. Outcome 3: attendee growers leave the Field Day understanding the erosion risks associated with ameliorated soil and some of the techniques available to prevent and limit such events occurring
