WANTFA are hosting our annual Spring Field Day at our main trial site in Cunderdin, on Wednesday 9th September 2015 from 10:30am.

Registrations open at 9:30 am and this event is FREE to all members. Non-members $50 incl GST. Door prizes to be won !

Topics will include:

Early Sowing opportunities, Oats Agronomy, Barley Agronomy, Barley and Wheat Disease, Canola Hybrid Technology, Carbon Farming Opportunities.

  • CSIRO – Early sown winter and spring wheats for opportunistic wet sowing.
  • CSIRO- Nutrient responses: Wheat after wheat versus wheat after Canola.
  • WANTFA – Small Farm Dry Seeding demo – 24 times of sowing wheat and canola.
  • Bayer – Control of spot form net blotch through soil and foliar fungicides in La Trobe barley.
  • DAFWA – Retaining F2 and F3 hybrid seed in low rainfall areas: Can increased seed rates, grading or using mixes overcome lack of hybrid vigour in F2 and F3 seed ?
  • KALYX – Wheat and Canola NVT’s.
  • DAFWA – Barley Agronomy, Lupin Agronomy and Wheat Nitrogen responses.
  • DAFWA – Impact of region and pathotype on field response of barley varieties to powdery mildew (Blumeria graminis f. sp hordei) in Western Australia.
  • DAFWA – Agronomic options for managing oat varieties for hay and grain – response to seeding rate (SR) applied and time of sowing & response to Nitrogen (N) applied and time of sowing.
  • WANTFA/WhNRM – Carbon Farming Opportunities.

The Annual WANTFA AGM will take place on the same day, and will be held during the lunch break. All WANTFA members are encouraged to attend.

The main trial site is on the Cunderdin/ Wyalkatchem Road, approximately 2km north of Three Mile Gate Road.
