Favourable conditions had trials looking their best

More than 200 growers and agribusiness representatives came to the 2014 WANTFA Spring Field Day this year.

The day showcased the huge amount of trials that are at the site this year which all are all looking fantastic after the great start to the season and favourable conditions in the past few weeks as well. With so many trials including sowing times, fertiliser rates and timing, crop varieties, soil constraints and more, it was a long and eventful day. The Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) is the site’s major supporter and we thank them for their confidence and continued funding of the Site. This year we have had a fantastic response from our industry partners and we would like to thank them for their contribution — CSBP, Goldacres, Farm Weekly, Prime Super, CBH Group, Bailiwick Legal, Grain Growers, Trimble, Suncorp Bank, Rural Focus, Riverina, NDF, Bayer and Agrimaster.

Thanks also to the Department of Agriculture and Food (DAFWA), Australian Herbicide Resistance Initiative (AHRI), University of Western Australia and Wheatbelt NRM for their support. A lot of people have contributed to the running of the site. Special thanks must go to Chris and Jeanette Syme, who own the land, for all their help and advice. An indepth look at the field days is covered in the Spring edition of New Frontiers in Agriculture, for a copy, please contact me to become a member.
